The Bluebirds 2008
Bluebirds 2008 includes 24 year old Jimmy Wooten on guitar and vocals. In 2007 Jimmy lived in Nashville and also in London, where he played with Recording Artists Forever Like Red. Buddy Flett is recovering from his hospital ordeal and will be back in action in later this year. 21 year old Cody Lowery on drums has toured across America and in Europe. Founding member and leader Bruce Flett handles bass, vocals, and the business. Female vocalist Deidre Malbrough also sings(Aretha to Alicia) with the group for special events [Miki Honeycutt also available].

The Bluebirds 1986- 2008, still Alive and Well. Shreveport, Louisiana’s Bluebirds have been together for 22 years and have averaged over 150 bookings a year for over two decades! [continued]

---Sigma Kappa greatly enjoyed the Bluebirds playing at our Spring Party. Everyone was talking about how great the band was all night. I think that this was the best band that we have ever had at a party. They were fun, very entertaining, and played lots of great music that just about everyone knew. The dance floor was crowded all night. Everyone really enjoyed themselves. I think we owe most of the fun we had to the wonderful entertainment of the Bluebirds. Booking them was very easy and they came all the way to Ruston from Shreveport when it was a very busy time for them. We will definitely be giving them a call the next time we have a party. GREAT band!!!!-

Benefit for Buddy Flett - April 27, 2008

Kenny Wayne Shepherd will headline a benefit for local musician Buddy Flett on April 27 at the Strand Theatre.

In addition to Shepherd, blues legend Hubert Sumlin, formerly of Howlin' Wolf, and Muddy Waters, will perform. Local acts include Jerry Beach, the Bluebirds, Jay Davis, Miki Honeycutt, Noids!, Professor Porkchop, The Rascoes and Maggie Warwick.

Buddy Flett - Mississippi Sea

"Mississippi Sea" marks a bit of a departure from Buddy's "sound" with the Bluebirds. Acoustic blues, nine songs written or co-written by Buddy. A deep, laid back artistic statement by a passionate Observer of the South. The imagery on these original tunes is deeper than the Mississippi Sea. A wider point of reference than the Mississippi Delta, with the Deep South mystique of the Ark-La-Miss and the hard-edged feel pioneered by Texans like Lightnin' Hopkins.
